Honolulu on my mind

When I was at Liliha bakery in Honolulu last week, a very tempting bag of Mexican wedding cookies were calling out to me. I have become quite selective of what I buy at bakeries or order for desserts at restaurants ever since I started baking. Anything that is simple to bake or that I know I can create myself, I tend to avoid ordering. Instead, I choose something that requires work or takes time to prepare, and/or that I can’t eat a lot of throughout the week - like a slice of Opera cake. So when it came to deciding what cookies to bake this week, I went for what was on my mind.
