Yesterday I baked a spicy peach galette with pecans, as my donation to a raffle for a Ladies of The Kraken special event. The event was a fundraiser for Dacs' House whose founder is Joey Daccord - a Seattle Kraken goaltender who wears jersey number 35. The goal of Dacs' House is to create meaningful programming to help connect youth and their families to Sun Devil Hockey. They achieve this with events that hosts two to three families of kids fighting childhood cancer, for Sun Devil Hockey games, giving them a premier experience while helping grow the game of hockey.
There were 65 ladies in attendance and we raised a total of $4500 for Dacs' House. Joey signed items that everyone brought, and we had wine (served by Patterson Cellars where the event was held), appetizers, and desserts. It was a fun way to spend a nice sunny Sunday evening.
Note: I added 1 teaspoon of ground ginger to the dough for the galette crust, and 1 teaspoon of ground ginger as well as 1/8 teaspoon of nutmeg to the peaches.
