When povitica was first mentioned on the Great British Baking show, I went “What is that?”. Apparently many bakers did not know either which made me feel a bit better. Let me just say, this is not easy. It’s harder than puff pastry. You need a bedsheet - wait what? Yes! The bedsheet is so the sticky dough doesn’t stick to your counter top and tear. You need to roll out a super large paper thin sheet of dough without tearing it. It’s something for patient people with delicate hands. I was attracted to this recipe because of the cocoa and the pretty pattern. Let’s just say I might not be making this again soon.
